For the second consecutive year DLA Piper has been recognized as Global Law Firm of the Year. The firm also received the newly created ESG Initiative Award for its industry-first corporate power purchase agreement, and was highly commended in the Regional Law Firm of the Year – Africa category.

This recognition of DLA Piper’s prominence in the sector comes from the Wind Investment Awards, the global wind industry’s preeminent event which brings together developers, asset managers, advisors and other industry names. This is the second year in a row the panel has names DLA Piper as its Global Law Firm of the Year, showcasing the continued strength of the firm’s international Renewable Energy practice, as well as its ongoing focus on innovation.

The firm’s proactive approach to sustainability was acknowledged with the inaugural ESG Initiative of the Year award, in recognition of its becoming the first law firm in the world to sign a corporate power purchase agreement as an off-taker, in tandem with its commitment to science-based targets for reducing its wider carbon emissions. The firm was also highly commended for its work in Africa, in a Regional Law Firm of the Year category.

Natasha Luther-Jones, Global Co-Chair of DLA Piper’s Energy & Natural Resources sector, and International Head of Sustainability & ESG, commented:

“To be awarded Global Law Firm of the Year once again shows that the industry is taking notice as we go from strength to strength as the international law firm that advises on more renewable energy projects than any other. I am particularly proud of the ESG Initiative award for our ground-breaking corporate PPA as an off-taker – a first in the legal services industry. A huge thank you to our clients for their continued trust, to the judges for their recognition and to our teams for their hard work and dedication.”
