DLA Piper advises Polhem on its acquisition of Telia Carrier

DLA Piper has advised Polhem Infra on its acquisition of Telia Carrier. Polhem Infra has entered into a binding agreement to acquire Telia Carrier, a world leading provider of back-bone connectivity holding a top position in the global rankings of companies operating Internet backbone networks. With the acquisition, Polhem Infra will, through Telia Carrier, own and operate more than 74,000 km of fiber network with 320 points of presence in the world.

The deal includes an agreement on strategic partnership through which Telia Carrier and Telia Company will continue to work together to provide services and develop new solutions for customers. The company is acquired at a value of SEK 9 450 million on a debt-free basis.

Polhem Infra invests in and manages infrastructure assets. The company was founded 2019 and is jointly owned by the Swedish Pension Funds: the First AP Fund, Third AP Fund and Fourth AP Fund.

The DLA Piper team, which comprised lawyers from 34 countries, was led by Stockholm-based partner Anders Malmström and Petros Vardanian, supported by London-based partner Mike Conradi.
