Johan Hübner advises clients primarily in the TMT and technology sectors, with a particular focus on commercial contract law, IT and AI agreements, distribution, and digital regulatory matters. He regularly acts for Swedish and international companies on major projects involving the development, deployment, and commercialisation of technology — including complex arrangements relating to IT procurement, software licensing, distribution, digital services, AI-enabled solutions, and cross-border commercial structures.

Johan's practice is strongly focused on helping clients navigate the privacy, data protection, and regulatory implications of digital transformation. He advises on the contractual, regulatory, and governance aspects of technology projects where data protection compliance, responsible data use, and the allocation of data-related responsibilities are central considerations. His work includes managing privacy implementation projects - including large-scale GDPR compliance programmes -conducting legal basis assessments for data processing activities, negotiating joint controller agreements, and advising on the legal characterisation of controller and processor roles in complex contractual relationships. He further advises technology companies, digitalising industrial players, and brand-driven businesses on outsourcing structures, AI governance frameworks, and compliance with evolving digital regulation, including the EU AI Act, the Data Act, and NIS2.

Johan holds a prominent international role as Vice Chair of the IBA Technology Law Committee, where he contributes to shaping global discussions at the intersection of law, technology, policy, and business. He previously served as Chair of the IBA's AI & Robotics Sub-Committee (2020–2024) and has played a key role in the Swedish Bar Association's work on guidance for the use of generative AI in legal practice.
