Bohdana Sokoliuk
Bohdana Sokoliuk is a Legal Intern in the Dispute Resolution group at DLA Piper Sweden. She holds an LL.B. in International Law (with honours) from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. She is also currently an LL.M. candidate in International Commercial Arbitration Law at Stockholm University. Bohdana assists attorneys in international arbitration proceedings seated in Sweden. She also works with other DLA's offices on pro bono Ukrainian projects.
Throughout her legal education in Ukraine, Bohdana was annually awarded governmental scholarships for academic excellence. She also actively participated in international law moot court competitions, with a focus on public international law and international investment arbitration.
Provided comprehensive support to Stockholm-seated SCC arbitral proceedings under Swedish and Romanian legal frameworks concerning: termination of a financial energy agreement between two European companies, a EUR 170 million construction project in Sweden, a lost profit claim over a multi-million-euro wind farm project in Romania.
Active in the firm's pro bono practice: assisted in advising major Ukrainian companies affected by the ongoing Russian war in Ukraine, engaged in the UNHCR research of Ukrainian legal framework and practice on the access to courts for refugees with disabilities, assisted the work of the PILnet on preparing global employment compass intended for foreigners in Ukraine.
Involved in the group's business development practice: co-organises the DLA Piper Global Vis Pre-Moot in Stockholm, co-authors updates on arbitration topics.
Assisted attorneys in preparation for a number of arbitration conferences in Sweden and abroad on: compliance matters in cross-border disputes, opportunities and challenges in international commercial arbitration, standards and trends in cross-examining fact and expert witnesses, the impact of sanctions on international arbitration.
