Maritime law
DLA Piper conducts enquiries and provides advice on carriage of goods by sea including damaged or lost goods, personal injury, liability issues, grounding, collisions, general average, salvage, oil pollution, charter party disputes, arrest and ITF matters. We are also able to assist in issues relating to new build and repair contracts, sale and purchase of vessels, ship registration under the Swedish flag and flags of convenience, as well as vessel taxation.
Means of carriage and logistics
DLA Piper’s maritime and transport law team has deep experience of all means of transportation and advises clients in all matters arising in transport, forwarding and warehousing. We also assist in drafting distribution and logistics contracts including contracts for third party logistics (3PL).
Dispute resolution
Our maritime and transport team represents Swedish and global clients in transport-related disputes in both general courts and in Swedish and international arbitration proceedings, for example at the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC). We also assist in general average procedures.
Financing
Our transport finance experience including all modes of transportation, principally air, sea and rail. We draft and negotiate purchase agreements, chartering and leasing contracts and advise on security documentation for financing arrangements. DLA Piper regularly represents banks, investors, shipping companies and airlines.
Aviation
We advised in all areas of aviation including establishment, licensing and operation of overseas airlines in Sweden. DLA Piper also handles liability issues, risk assessments, passenger claims, leasing and financing of aircraft, as well as registration and mortgages for aircraft. We represent operators within the aviation industry before aviation authorities and consumer tribunals as well as in court and arbitration proceedings, including in the forced repossession of leased aircraft and insolvency.
Offshore
There are increasing numbers of Swedish companies involved in the Norwegian oil- and gas industry. As our client, we advise you in negotiating and drafting contracts for accommodation modules, maintenance rigs and supply vessels.
