DLA Piper advises SAS creditors in connection with Chapter 11 proceedings
DLA Piper in Sweden, Norway and Denmark has been appointed by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New York to represent the class of unsecured creditors in the Chapter 11 proceeding concerning the airline SAS.
DLA Piper is one of the world's largest law firms and has offices in more than 40 countries, including throughout the Nordic region. DLA Piper has previously advised on a large number of high-profile national and international restructurings.
DLA Piper's mission is to handle all legal issues in Sweden, Norway and Denmark and to negotiate the best possible financial outcome for the non-priority creditors.
Jonas Premfors, partner and head of restructuring and insolvency in Sweden, comments on the assignment:
"With DLA Piper's strong Nordic position and expertise in the field of restructuring and insolvency, we look forward to taking on the task of creating the best possible outcome for the unsecured creditors in the SAS Chapter 11 proceedings."
The US law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher has been appointed as the US representative of the creditor group. DLA Piper's work will therefore be carried out in close cooperation with the US law firm.
"Together with our colleagues in Denmark and Norway, we look forward to contributing to this extensive and complex case, which requires global representation and an extensive team of experienced lawyers. This is an excellent example of how DLA Piper works in an integrated manner with issues at the intersection of restructuring and insolvency, finance and corporate", says Jonas Premfors.
The Swedish team includes Jonas Premfors, Erik Selander, Joakim Hedström, Anders Svensson, Sandra Andersson, Jenny Räf, Richard Folke, Peder Grandinson, Radwan Benachenhou, Björn Sjöberg, Tim Hagberg, David Johansson and Erik Brändt Öfverholm. In Denmark, the work is led by Henrik Sjørslev and his team and in Norway by Egil Hatling and his team.
