DLA Piper advises on the sale of Sana to Workday for USD 1.1 billion

Global law firm DLA Piper has advised Sana and certain shareholders on its sale to Workday for a consideration of approximately USD 1.1 billion. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of year 2025 and is subject to customary closing conditions for a transaction of this type. 

Sana is headquartered in Stockholm and founded in 2016. Sana develops AI-driven solutions designed to enhance learning, knowledge management, and workplace productivity. Its products have served over a million users globally. Workday is an enterprise AI platform for managing people, money and agents and is used by more than 11,000 organisation and more than 65% of the Fortune 500.

The deal was led by Mikael Moreira and Petter Kjöllerström (Sweden), John Hutar (US) and James Fischer (US), together with mainly Mikael Hagström, Sara Ottosson Bixo, Felicia Lindstrand, Anton Lundgren Akbarzadeh, Linn Månsson, Jennifer Boyaci, Erik Brändt Öfverholm, Hanna Medelius, Johan Zetterström, Anna Morrison, Ida Hedlund, Gustav Lundin, Malin Männikkö (all Sweden), Robert Fuller, Taylor Mielnicki, Julia T. Kovacs, Sean Fulton, Coran D., Glen Williams, Jeff Aronson (all US), and Nick Hipwell, David Smith, Tamsin Nicholds and Georgia Kirkham (all UK).

Mikael has previously advised Sana in several financing rounds and has extensive experience in transactions within the tech sector.
